A video clip of practicing the shooting of firearms by Nazmul Karim Chowdhury Sharun, son of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) whip Shamsul Hoque Chowdhury, went viral on social media platform Facebook on Friday, prompting mass criticism in the political arena of the country, particularly the port city.
Local Awami League leaders of Chattogram are embarrassed following the viral of the incident. Even leaders and activists of the party at the grassroots are also embarassed, reports media.
In the video clip, Sharun, also a member of finance and planning affairs sub-committee of the ruling Awami League, was seen practising shooting with arms like an AK-47 rifle.
Many people commented on Facebook that such a video viral proves how careless
the whip son is. Someone else eommented, the video may be an edited one.
Earlier, the whip’s son came to the limelight and made local media headlines after allegedly threatening freedom fighter Didarul Alam Chowdhury, founding general secretary of Chattogram Abahani Football Committee, to beat him in broaddaylight over cell phone.
Didarul, also a senior AL leader, was asked to keep silent about MP Shamsul Hoque Chowdhury’s casino scandal during a mobile conversation that went viral on Facebook on Thursday. Earlier, Mahmud Saiful Amin, an Inspector of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) in Dhaka’s Uttara area, has recently claimed that JS whip Shamsul Hoque Chowdhury amassed TK 180 crore through casino business on a Facebook status. The APBn inspector was temporary suspeneded for his facebook status.
