JS session prorogued

The 5th session of the 10th Parliament was prorogued on Thursday after 39 sittings that passed eight bills.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury read out the prorogation order of the President around 8:27pm.
During the 74-day session that began on January 19, some 529 notices were placed under Section 71 of the Rules of Procedure, of which 30 were received and nine were discussed in the House.
A total of 299 questions were received for the Prime Minister, of which she replied to 160.
The 5th session received a total of 4,796 questions for different ministers with the ministers replying to 3,675.
President Abdul Hamid delivered his speech in
 Parliament on January 19, the first day of the session.
A total of 236 MPs took part in the thanksgiving motion on the President’s speech and spent 60 hours and 30 minutes in the general discussion on the motion.
After the discussion, the thanksgiving motion on President’s speech was passed unanimously in the House.
Among the eight bills passed in the session are ‘Metro Rail Bill-2015’, Formalin Control Bill-2015, ‘Speedy Supply of Power and Energy (Special Provision) (Amendment) Bill-2015’, Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (Amendment) Bill-2015 and ‘Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute Bill-2015’.
