JS session begins, budget to be placed tomorrow

The budget session of the 10th Jatiya Sangsad began yesterday and it will continue till July 13.
The decision was made yesterday in a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the House at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
The meeting also decided that the House would remain adjourned on June 23-27 for Eid-ul-Azha and sit at 10:30 am every working day although the Speaker will have the authority to bring any change to this end.
Committee members Leader of the Opposition Raushan Ershad, HM Ershad, Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, M Fazle Rabbi Miah, Abul Hasnat Abdullah, Rashed Khan Menon, ASM Feroz, Moin Uddin Khan Badal and Anisul Haque attended the meeting.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith joined the meeting on special invitation.
Senior secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Abdur Rab Hawlader and officials concerned were present.
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will unveil the national budget for the 2017-18 financial year (FY18) at JS at 1:30 pm tomorrow.
This will be the fourth budget of the Awami League government in the current tenure and the 11th of Muhith as the Finance Minister, said a press statement.
Muhith is going to be the first finance minister who is placing the national budget for the ninth time in a row since 2009. The Finance Minister earlier said that the upcoming budget will be the ‘best budget’ of his life. He hinted that the budget size is likely to over Tk. 4 trillion.
He also hinted at increasing the revenue growth target to 30 percent in the new budget.
