The Jatiya Sangsad on Tuesday passed the Tea Bill, 2016 for giving legal coverage to the activities of Bangladesh Tea Board and framing the law in Bengali.
The House adopted the bill by voice votes with Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah in the chair.
Moving the bill in the House, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said the passage of the proposed law will help setting up new tea gardens and increasing tea production to meet domestic demand side by side with sustaining in the competitive international market.
Earlier, the minister introduced the bill in the House on April 25, 2016.
