The Jatiya Sangsad on Tuesday passed the “Battalion Ansar (Amendment) Bill, 2017” with a proposal to bring down service confirmation period of the members of the force from nine years to six years.
Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan moved the bill and the House adopted it by voice votes with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
With passage of the bill, the service of every embedded Ansar member will be confirmed after six years instead of nine years in the existing provision.
Earlier on January 9, the cabinet gave its final approval to the draft of the Battalion Ansar (Amendment) Act, 2017.
