The Jatiya Sangsad today passed the “Bangladesh Biodiversity Bill, 2016” in an amended form paving the way for strengthening biodiversity conservation measurers in the country.
Environment and Forests Minister Anwar Hossain moved the bill and the House endorsed the same in voice votes.
The minister placed the bill in the House on July 27 last year saying the proposed law would help taking appropriate measures for protection of biodiversity in the country in line with the Bangladesh Constitution and UN Biodiversity Charter.
Bangladesh is a signatory to the charter.
