The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the labour and employment ministry on Tuesday has asked the ministry to take necessary steps so that industry owners pay salary and bonus to the workers and employees before a week of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
The committee also recommended for taking action against the organizations found terminating the workers from job ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
The recommendations have been made following the second meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. With the committee chairman Mannuzan Sufian in the chair, the meeting was participated, among others, by State Minister for labour and Employment M Mozibul Haq and committee members M Israfil Alam, Anwarul Abedin Khan, Chobi Biswas, Shirin Akhter, M Ruhul Amin, M Rezaul Haq Chowdhury and Rokshana Chuti. The parliamentary standing committee also discussed the programmes undertaken by different voluntary organizations including the government and the ministry of labour and employment following the incidents of fire at Tajrin Fashions limited and collapse of Rana Palza at Savar.
High officials including the labour and employment secretary were present at the meeting.
