Parliamentary Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Ministry suggested that the ministry should play a pivotal role in strengthening the country’s economic diplomacy across the world.
The committee made the recommendation at its 7th meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday with the committee chairman Muhammad Faruk Khan in the chair.Committee members Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam, Golam Faruk Khandker Prince, Nahim Razzaq and Kazi Nabil Ahmed attended the meeting.
The committee recommended taking steps to issue passport within not more than 15 days and suggested informing persons concerned about the proper reason of delay in issuing of passport within appropriate time. Reports on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s joining of the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly and her India visit were presented in the meeting Different issues, including the prime minister’s meeting with top Indian businessmen during her India visit and her call to the businessmen to invest in Bangladesh, were also discussed on the occasion. The committee recommended taking steps to provide cooperation to private entrepreneurs to build them skilled businessmen. Foreign Affairs Ministry’s Senior Secretary Md Shahidul Haque, Maritime Affairs Unit Secretary Md Khurshed Alam, officials concerned of the ministry and Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present in the meeting.
