JS Committee for reducing maternal mortality rate

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs held a consultation meeting with the sub-committee on maternal heath development and ensuring safe delivery of the Strengthening Parliament’s Capacity is Integrating Population Issues into Development (SPCPD) project at the Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the sub-committee recommended taking more effective steps in preventing child marriage in the country. It recommended taking necessary steps in reducing maternal mortality rate. It also recommended appointment of more nurses in community clinics across the country.
Committee chairman Begum Rebeka Momin presided over the meeting while members state minister for women and children affairs ministry Begum Meher Afroz, Begum Nasrin Jahan Ratna, Begum Manawara Begum, Begum Fazilatun Nesa, Begum Refat Amin and convener of the sub-committee Chief Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad ASM Firoz and member Md Habibe Millat were present.
