Parliamentary Standing Committee on Jute discussed in detailed the ‘Jute Bill-2016’ and also recommended to include a particular day of the year as the Jute Day in the bill, said a parliamentary release here.
The recommendation was placed at the 18th meeting of the committee held on Monday at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here with committee Chairman Saber Hossain Chowdhury, MP, in the chair.
Among the committee members State Minister for Jute and Textile Mirza Azam, Mannujan Sufian, Dr M Enamur Rahman and Sabina Akhter Tuhin participated in the meeting.
The committee also recommended the final draft of the bill to the concerned ministry for discussion with the stakeholders after annexing necessary amendments.
High officials of the ministry and officials from the parliamentary secretariat including the secretary of the Ministry of Jute and Textile were also present during the meeting.
