JS body recommends for regular payment of wages to workers

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Labour and Employment on Thursday recommended for regular payment of wages and allowances to the workers at all the industries for checking further workers resentment.
The committee has also recommended for shifting all the Technical Training Centres (TTC) under the Ministry of Expatriates and Overseas Employment to the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
These sorts of recommendations were placed at the 8th meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here with committee chairman Mannujan Sufian in the chair.
The meeting was attended by committee Members State Minister for Labour and Employment M Mujibul Haq, M Israfil Alam, Anwarul Abedin Khan, Chobi Biswas, Shirin Akhter, M Ruhul Amin, M Rezaul Haq Chowdhury and Roksana Yasmin Chuti.
The standing committee meeting discussed on detailed on the progress of the investigation by the sub-committee regarding termination of the workers at the BATA shoe company.
However, the JS committee discussed on the payment of salary and allowances of the workers at all the industries followed by the government instruction in due time and recommended for taking action against those industries that have failed to pay the salary and allowance of their workers in stipulated time to avoid further resentment.
High profile officials from various organizations including Inspector General of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishment, joint secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, among others, were present.
