JS body recommends enacting laws for CHT based on peace treaty

The Parliamentary Standing Committee for Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts on Tuesday recommended for enacting laws for the CHT regions on the basis of peace accord.
The body in its 27th meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad (JS) here also suggested appointing headmasters for primary schools with consultation with CHT regional and district councils.
It was also mentioned in the meeting that Taka 5 crore has allocated in the supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2016-17 for construction of the link road from Khagrachhari sadar upazila to remote areas while around Taka 20 crore has been allocated in the annual development programme in the fiscal year 2017-2018 against the project.
Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury presided over the meeting while committee members, state minister for CHT ministry Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing, Kujendra Lal Tripura, and M A Awal attended the meeting.
