The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Food suggested digital storage of foods across the country to fight corruption and irregularities in food management.
The meeting in this regard was held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on the 15th instant with president of the parliamentary standing committee Md Abdul Wadud in the chair.
It also recommended completing constructing of eight silos within the quickest possible of time for proper storage of foods to fight post period of disasters. It also asked for measures to set up silos in food surplus districts.
The meeting also stressed on the need of strong monitoring and vigilance to ensure proper storage of food grains such as paddy, rice and wheat in warehouses.
Among others, committee members, Food Minister Quamrul Islam, Md Abdul Khaleque, AKM Bahauddin, Md Hasibur Rahman Swapon, Md Nurul Haque, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Begum Shirin Naim, were present at the meeting.
