The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Education recommended to monitor the “Sunamganj University of Science and Technology” bill and present it in the Jatiya Sangsad(JS) subject to necessary amendments, additions and subtractions.
The recommendation was made at the 10th meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Thursday with its Chairman Md Afsarul Amin in the chair, said a press release.
To create a safe learning environment for students the committee also discussed about the about the removal of abandoned buildings of educational institutions.
The committee recommended the ministry to play a strong role in expeditious implementation of the responsibilities assigned to the district administration as well as the departments under the Ministry of Education.
The modified and proposed curriculum of education was also discussed at the meeting.
The meeting emphasized on increasing the capacity of the University Grants Commission(UGC) to strengthen the education system.
Committee members- Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni ,Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury , Md. Abdul Kuddus, Fazle Hossain Badsha, Md. Abdus Sobhan Mia and Golam Kibria were present at the meeting.
There are plans to set up at least one technical college in each upazila for the purpose of expanding technical education.
In this case, it was mentioned that the recruitment process for the vacant post will start as soon as possible with the aim of eliminating the shortage of teachers.
Among others, Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Division, Additional Secretaries of Secondary and Higher Education Division, representatives of UGC,senior officials of the ministry and concerned officials of jatiya Sangsad Secretariat attended it.
