JS body on housing reviews projects in major cities

The parliamentary standing committee on housing and public works ministry on Sunday reviewed the ongoing projects and future plans of the development authorities of major cities including Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) in its first meeting in the 11th Jatiya Sangsad.
According to a parliamentary secretariat press release, committee chairman Engineer Mosharraf Hossain presided over the meeting when representatives of development authorities of the major cities outlined their ongoing and proposed projects.
“The committee asked them to complete the running projects in due time and design low-cost innovative ideas,” said the release issued after the meeting at Sangsad Bhaban.
The meeting, it said, particularly examined the master plan for the sea resort town of Cox’s Bazar and stressed that nothing should stand on the way to its implementation.
Committee members Housing and Public Works Minister S M Rezaul Karim, Md. Monowar Hossain Chowdhury, Anwarul Ashraf Khan, and Begum Farida Khanam took part in the meeting.
The meeting also remembered Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, 30-lakh martyred, two-lakh violated women, martyred of language movement of 1952 and martyred of August 15 in 1975 including Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib and four national leaders.
