The seventh meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture on Monday took five decisions for increasing the agricultural output.
The parliamentary watchdog had elaborate discussion regarding the overall activities of the ministry, said a press release here.
The meeting also had discussion regarding the latest breeds of hog plums and papaya invented by Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), cultivation of floating grass, elimination of rats and freezing seasonal fruits.
In the meeting, the committee took five decisions. These included urging the Secretary of the Industry Ministry to supervise the activities of ‘Sugar Beet’ cultivation, asking the Bangladesh Sugar Industries Corporation Chairman to be present in the next meeting, directing the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) to increase the production of dates through tissue culturing, issuing directive to BARI to present a report on their overall activities in the next meeting, and deciding the theme of the ministry for the upcoming ‘Mujib Year-2020’.
