JS body for underground parking in city to ease traffic jam

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Ministry recommended making underground parking system in the capital to ease traffic jam.
The recommendation was made at the second meeting of the committee held on Sunday at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban here with its Chairman M Shamsul Haque Tuku in the chair, said a press release.
Committee members Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Md Habibar Rahman, Shamsul Alam Dudu, Md Faridul Haque Khan, Pir Fazlur Rahman, Nur Mohammad and Sultan Mohammad Mansur Ahmad attended the meeting.
The committee termed the prevailing traffic jam in the city “acute and intolerable” and suggested taking measures after holding discussions with the concerned ministries and departments along with the police to mitigate the traffic jam.
The parliamentary watchdog emphasized on constructing link roads or bypass roads around the capital city.
When the incident of Feni madrasah student Nusrat Jahan Rafi killing was raised in the meeting, the body recommended resolving such problems taking those into consideration with the highest importance.
The committee urged all concerned to monitor the contents published in the social media.
In the beginning of the meeting, one-minute silence was observed in respect to the memory of former Awami League (AL) General Secretary late Syed Ashraful Islam and other dignitaries.
The meeting wished early recovery of ailing AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, who is now staying in Singapore following a bypass surgery at Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
Home Ministry’s Public Security Division Secretary Mostafa Kamal Uddin and Security Services Division Secretary Md Shahiduzzaman and other officials concerned were present in the meeting.
