JS body for trauma centre at Ctg Port

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Shipping Ministry recommended the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) to set up a modernised trauma centre to ensure emergency treatment for its workers and staff.
A trauma centre is a hospital equipped and staffed to provide care for patients suffering from major traumatic injuries like falls, motor vehicle collisions, or gunshot wounds.
The parliamentary watchdog came up with the recommendation at its 33rd meeting held at Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman Major (retd) Rafiqul Islam in the chair.
During the meeting, the committee discussed overall development activities of Chittagong Port.
It informed that the CPA has taken various projects, including Patenga terminal, Bay-terminal, New Mooring Overflow Yard and Karnaphuli container terminal to increase container handling capacity of the port to 35.95 lakh TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) by 2021.
Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan and committee members Talukder Abdul
Khalek, Md Abdul Hye, Md Habibur Rahman, M Abdul Latif and Ranjit Kumar Roy were present at the meeting.
