JS body for transforming Jatiya Protibondhi Unnayan Foundation into directorate

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Social Welfare recommended measures for transforming Jatiya Protibondhi Unnayan Foundation into a directorate for further ensuring the wellbeing of the people with disabilities.
The second meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Social Welfare was held on Thursday at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here. With Chairman of the committee Rashed Khan Menon in the chair, the meeting was attended, among others, by members of the committee Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, State Minister Sharif Ahmed, Md Shiblee Sadik, Badruddoza Md Farhad Hossain, AKM Sarwar Jahan, Kazi Kaniz Sultana and Begum Arma Dutta.
The meeting recommended transforming the existing Jatiya Protibondhi Unnayan Foundation into directorate for Development of Persons with Disabilities as per the will of PM Sheikh Hasina. The meeting also advised the ministry to take necessary steps regarding the transformation of the foundation as soon as possible. The committee placed a recommendation taking the job examinations for the visually impaired persons in a special manner and appointing stenographers. The committee recommended amending the recruitment rules urgently. The ministry was urged by the committee to look after the allowance distribution process so that no one is provided with multiple allowances.
Senior officials of the social welfare ministry and the Jatiya Sangsad, among others, were present at the meeting.
