Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Commerce suggested for strengthening the operation of the open market sale (OMS) of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB).
The suggestion came at the 21th meeting of the committee held on Sunday at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman M Tajul Islam Chowdhury in the chair, said an official press release.
Expressing satisfaction over the OMS activities in divisional headquarters, the committee urged the authority concerned to strengthen its activity at district and upazila levels so that people can buy TCB’s quality products at affordable cost.
It also laid emphasis on strengthening the monitoring activities further.
The meeting was informed that TCB is operating OMS on a total of 185 trucks, of which 33 trucks in Dhaka, 10 trucks in Chittagong, five trucks each in other divisional cities and two trucks each in district towns for selling the essential commodities.
