Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Commerce yesterday urged the authorities concerned to keep the commodity market stable ensuring stock and supply on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.
The parliamentary body made the call at its 17th meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with the committee Chairman M Tajul Islam Chowdhury in the chair.
Committee members -Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Nurul Mazid Mahmud Humayun, Waresat Hossain Belal, M Sanwar Hossain, M Manzurul Islam Liton and Laila Arzuman Banu attended the meeting, said a press release. In the meeting, they also discussed increasing export to South America as well as finalizing the calendar of Trade Fair in fiscal 2016-17 year. It also made recommendation to the ministry to ensure a strong vigilance to keep the salt price stable.
At the begging of the meeting, a doa was made seeking eternal peace of the souls of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and members of his family assassinated in August 15, 1975 and the people killed in August 21, 2004 grenade attack.
Senior commerce secretary and officials concerned were present in the meeting.
