The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Industries today recommended shutting down of the illegal factories producing drinking water without the license of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI).
The parliamentary watchdog made the recommendation at the 6th meeting of the committee at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here with its Chairman Amir Hossain Amu in the chair, said a press release.
Committee members AKM Fazlul Haque, Mohammad Shahiduzzaman, Kazim Uddin Ahmed and Parveen Haque Sikder attended the meeting, the release added.
The committee suggested the ministry eliciting observations of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) engineers before making any purchase.
