JS body for recruiting manpower for BADC’s research

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry on Wednesday recommended recruiting manpower against the vacancies for strengthening research work of Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC).
The committee also recommended ensuring promotion of BADC employees by removing complexities relating to cases of the corporation, says a Jatiya Sangsad secretariat statement.
The parliamentary body made the recommendations at its 7th meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman M Maqbul Hossain in the chair.
Committee members Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, M Moslem Uddin, M Mamunur Rashid Kiron, AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen, Abdul Mannan, Nazrul Islam Babu and Advocate Umme Kulsul Smrity were present in the meeting.
The meeting instructed the ministry to ensure compensation to farmers, who lost their crops during the recent seasonal storms (Kaal Boishakhi) and hailstones, the press release said.
Besides, the committee recommended monitoring farmers’ losses due to import of substandard rice.
The meeting was informed that the ministry constructed 1,8,42.5 kilometre pipe for irrigation under 19 irrigation projects and 136 irrigation programmes from 2009-2010 to 2013-2014 to control water and land losses.
Additional secretary of agriculture ministry and senior officials concerned were present at the meeting.
