JS body for quick implementation of cyclone center construction

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Disaster Management and Relief Affairs Ministry recommended quick implementation of the work of Cyclone and Flood Centre Construction Project (2nd phase) giving priority on cyclone prone areas.
It also suggested submitting a report on allegation of irregularities and corruption in bridge and culvert construction after locking into the allegations within a month.
The committee came up with the recommendation at its 20th meeting held on Sunday at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its chairman Dhirendra Nath Shambhu in the chair.
Committee members BM Mozammel Haque, Begum Mamtaz Begum, Abdur Rahman Badi, Md Shafiqul Islam Shimul and SM Jaglul Haider attended the meeting.
The committee also recommended lessening complexity of recruiting 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes staffs under Department of Disaster Management.
A 4-member sub-committee, having Talukder Abdul Khaleq as convener, was
formed to examine the causes of landslide in hills. Other members are Md
Shafiqul Islam Shimul, Syed Abu Hossain and Happy Baral.
High officials of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, Department of
Disaster Management and JS secretariat were present on the occasion.
