JS body for quick disposal of 30 lakh pending cases

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs recommended that the process of appointing judges should be accelerated for quick disposal of 30 lakh pending cases.
The committee made the recommendation on Monday at its 37th meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here.
Committee members Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq, Md Tajul Islam Chowdhury, Advocate Sahara Khatun, Safura Begum and Amatul Kibria Keya attended the meeting with committee Chairman Abdul Matin Khasru in the chair.
The committee suggested that Legislative Division officials should be brought under cadre service to speed up the formulation of laws.
It also recommended for organizing a workshop in every three months at every district to provide legal aid assistance to the common people.
Besides, in order to ensure rule of law, billboards highlighting services of legal aid should be displayed on premises of courts to apprise the people, the committee suggested.
Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division senior secretary, Law and Justice Division secretary and concerned officials of the parliament were present on the occasion.
