The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Fisheries and Animal Resources Ministry recommended procuring new animals for Dhaka Zoo.
The recommendation was made on Wednesday at the 7th meeting of the standing committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with committee Chairman Mir Shawkat Ali Badsha in the chair.
Committee members, Fisheries and Animal Resources Minister M Sayedul Haq, Narayan Chandra Chanda, Muhammad Golam Mostafa Biswas, Iftikar Uddin Talukder and Shamsun Nahar Begum attended the meeting.
The meeting suggested the ministry to take necessary measures to secure the recovered land of Dhaka Zoo with barbed wire fences.
It asked the department of fisheries to take proper steps for catching and marketing the fish in the lake of Dhaka Zoo.
The committee recommended the ministry to take steps to maintain quality of fish and animal feeds.
It also recommended involving foreign agencies, donors and NGOs in the programmes under the ministry for fisheries and animal resources.
Senior officials were present at the meeting.
