The parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs discussed preventing child marriage in 2015 through the office of Women Affairs Department.
The discussion was held recently in the 20th meeting of the committee at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
It also discussed the activities of the ministry and its subordinate offices to prevent domestic violence in the country.
Chairman of the committee Rebecca Momin presided over the meeting. Committee members State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroze Chumki, Mahabub Ara Begum Gini, Nasrin Jahan Ratna, Monowara Begum and Rifat
Amin attended the meeting. The meeting also discussed inscribing “National Tole Free Help Line 10921”
on the back cover of the text books to generate awareness for preventing violence against women.
Secretary of the ministry Nasima Begum and concerned officials of the parliament secretariat were also present.
