Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs recommended constituting a national commission to bring all those, who were involved in the killings of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and most of his family members on August 15, 1975, to justice.
The parliamentary watchdog came up with the recommendation at its 12th meeting held at Sangsad Bhaban on Monday with committee Chairman Abdul Matin Khasru in the chair, said a press release of Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat.
At the onset of the meeting, the attendees observed one-minute silence paying homage to Bangabandhu on the occasion of his 45thmartyrdom anniversary.
Later, one-minute silence was observed recalling the memories of late Awami League Presidium Member and former Home Minister Sahara Khatun and former Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division Secretary Naren Das.
Committee members – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq, Mostafizur Rahman, Md Shamsul Haque Tuku, Md Shahiduzzaman Sarker, Shameem Haider Patwary and Gloria Jharna Sarker – and senior officials of the Parliament Secretariat and the ministry were present at the meeting.
