JS body for mass awareness to prevent child marriage

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Women and Children Affairs suggested for building mass awareness and movement with the help of different mobile operators to prevent child marriage across the country.
“The committee asked the ministry to take necessary steps so that district administration takes effective and pragmatic steps in this regard,” a parliamentary secretariat statement said on Tuesday.
The meeting also underscored the need for undertaking a long-term project in the ministries for the Social Welfare, and the Women and Child Affairs to provide financial and food assistances for the orphans and distressed children.
The standing committee recommendations came at its 24th meeting presided over by its chairman Begum Rebeka Momin.
Committee members MosammatMahbub Ara Begum Gini and Begum Monwara Begum, ministry secretary Nasima Begum and senior officials of the concerned ministry were present in the meeting.
The meeting also discussed and evaluated the decision of the last meeting.
