JS body for increasing schools under MPO

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Education Ministry on Wednesday suggested the government to increase the number of schools under the monthly pay order (MPO) in the current fiscal year.
The committee came up with the recommendation at its 11th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad with Abdul Quddus in the chair, said a Parliament Secretariat press release.
The meeting decided that the parliamentary watchdog, headed by its chairman, will place a demand to the Prime Minister for increasing budgetary allocation for the Education Ministry.
Besides, the updated information over all private universities approved by the university grants commission (UGC) was discussed at the meeting.
Committee members Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Salim Uddin Tarafder, SM Abul Kalam Azad, Mamunoor Rashid and Selina Akhter Banu attended the meeting.
The UGC Chairman, the additional secretary of the ministry, the director general of the Secondary and Higher Education Directorate were, among others, present.
