The parliamentary standing committee on public assurances on Wednesday recommended taking quick steps for improving power transmission and distribution system along with increasing generation.
The recommendation was made at a meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman Kazi Keramat Ali in the chair.
Committee members Alhaj Advocate Rahamat Ali, M Shahiduzzaman Sarkar, AKM Shahjahan Kamal, Abdul Majid Khan and Mir Mostaq Ahmad Robi attended the meeting.
The meeting also recommended completing ongoing projects in power sector within the stipulated time and ending all renovation activities before the next rainy season.
The meeting held discussions on the implementation of the pledges made by the Prime Minister and the minister for power, energy and mineral resources in the parliament.
The meeting was told that 23 pledges were implemented out of 36 made by the Prime Minister and the minister for power, energy and mineral resources.
