The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Water Resources yesterday urged the ministry for quick implementation of the works of the projects taken to protect the left embankment of Bramhaputra River in Gaibandha and Kurigram districts from erosion.
It also suggested for taking necessary measures to solve the manpower crisis of the ministry.
The eighth meeting of the committee held at the Jatiyo Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman Ramesh Chandra Sen in the chair. The committee members including water resources minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, Mohammad Nazrul Islam, A K M Fazlul Huq, Rezwan Ahammad Towfiq, Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury and Selina Jahan Lita attended the meeting.
The parliamentary watchdog body also made recommendation to solve the fund disbursement problem of the projects which is being implemented under the financing of Climate Change Trust Fund (CCTF).
It also asked the authorities concerned to take project under the CCTF and implement the project quickly.
The secretary of the ministry and officials concerned were present at the meeting.
