JS body for gearing up database project of 44 lakh people

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Primary and Mass Education Ministry asked the officials concerned to hasten the process of creating database under the Basic Literacy Project.
The meeting dwelt on accelerating the database creation activities of 44 lakh people in 64 districts of the project,” a parliamentary secretariat statement said.
In the first phase of database collecting activity, a total of 23,59,441 people in 134 upazials have been brought under the programme. In the second phase, the baseline survey activities in 114 upazilas are underway out of 116 upazilas, it added.
According to the statement this was the 4th meeting of the committee, presided over by the committee’s chairman Mostafizur Rahman.
The meeting also discussed the progress of office orders of transfer of the teachers under the schools nationalized by the Prime Minister to ensure quality education.
Committee members M Zakir Hossain, Ismat Ara Sadek, Ali Azam, M Zohaerul Islam and Ferdousi Islam were present, among others.
