JS body for further discussions on remunerations of MPs

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry on Wednesday recommended holding further discussions to fix remunerations and allowances for the members of parliament (MPs).
The recommendation was made at the 26th meeting of the Standing Committee at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with Committee Chairman Suranjit Sengupta presiding.
The committee also recommended fixing warrant of precedence considering that the MPs are elected public representatives and the government officials are service-providers to people.
The meeting held discussions in detail on Speaker and Deputy Speaker (Remuneration and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill, 2016 and Members of Parliament (Remuneration and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
Committee members Law Minister Anisul Haq, M Tajul Islam Chowdhury, Begum Sahara Khatun, M Shamsul Haq Tuku, Talukder M Yunus and Safura Begum attended the meeting.
Secretaries and other senior officials concerned were present at the meeting.
