JS body for fund allocation to preserve archaeological sites

Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Cultural Affairs asked the ministry to allocate necessary fund for proper preservation of the country’s archaeological sites. It also asked the ministry to take measures for holding cultural functions in every week in Cox’s Bazaar and three hill tract districts.
The recommendations were made on Tuesday at the seventh meeting of the committee at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with committee Chairperson Shimin Hossain Rimi in the chair.
Committee members Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Kazi Keramath Ali, Sagufta Yesmin, Monoranjan Shil Gopal, Momtaj Begum, Pankaj Nath, MA Hannan, Pinu Khan and Zebunnesa Afroz attended the meeting.
The committee recommended providing one vehicle to each Small Ethnic Group Cultural Institute and district level Shilpakala Academy.
It also recommended the ministry taking measures for creating new acrobats and resuming the acrobat show that used to be organized by the Shilpakala Academy.
The members also discussed in details development expenditure of Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachari Small Ethnic Group Cultural Institutes and Cox’s Bazar Cultural Centre.
Acting Secretary of Cultural Affairs Ministry and high officials of the ministry and parliament secretariat were present.
