The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment recommended the ministry to enhance activities to ensure security of Bangladeshis working in Libya and Iraq.
The recommendation was made on Thursday at the 3rd meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban in the city with its Chairman Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun presiding, said an official release.
Committee Members Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Khandaker Moshartraf Hossain, M Shahab Uddin, M Israfil Alam M Ayen Uddin attended the meeting.
The committee recommended keeping Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (BAIRA) under the control of the ministry and expediting their activities to increase export of manpower abroad excluding Malaysia, Iraq and Libya.
The meeting was told that the subcommittee formed over a project for welfare of expatriates at Bhatara of Gulshan will submit a report on the progress of 167-katha project after the end of some legal complications in this regard.
Expatriate welfare and overseas employment secretary and senior officials of parliament secretariat were present at the meeting.
