JS body for ensuring price, quality of LPG

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry recommended for ensuring uniform prices of locally produced and imported LPG alongside with maintaining quality.
The meeting also recommended the ministry to enhance efficiency of the state-run gas companies besides the private gas companies to cope with the competitive market, according to a release.
The recommendations were made at the twenty-seventh meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Chaired by committee chairman Md Tajul Islam, the meeting was joined, among others, by State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, Mohammad Atiur Rahman Atique, M Abu Zahir, M Abdul Latif, AFM Bahauddin (Nasim) and ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader.
The meeting laid stress on enhancing capacity of the Payra Port with 18 km capital dredging. Drive against illegal gas connection would be continued, it said.
The JS body also recommended forming of special security force to ensure safety of the power stations and gas fields and monitoring condition through CCTV surveillance.
Acting Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division Nazimuddin Chowdhury, BPC Chairman Mahmoud Reza Khan, Chairman of Petrobangla Ishtiaq Ahmed and other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
