The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources Ministry recommended sustaining river flows across the country by dredging all rivers as per the Delta Plan.
The recommendation was made at the 6th meeting of the committee, held on Thursday at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here.
The meeting also recommended continuing dredging activities and taking preparations in advance in the areas having high risk of river erosion to face floods in the next year.
With Committee Chairman Ramesh Chandra Sen presiding, the meeting was attended by State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed Farooque, Deputy Minister AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem and other members Md. Afzal Hossain, Shamsul Haque Chowdhury and Md. Faridul Haque Khan.
In the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the Arialkha river bank protection and dredging project under Faridpur district and the project for mitigation of water logging in the rivers in Monirampur and Keshabpur Upazilas of Jashore district and canals in the neighboring areas.
