The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Railway Ministry on Wednesday recommended introducing double-deck coaches for train passengers from Gazipur to Narayanganj.
The recommendation was made at the 22nd meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury in the chair.
Committee members viz. Railways Minister M Mujibul Haq, M Moslem Uddin, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Noman, Yasin Ali and Fatema Johra Rani attended the meeting.
The meeting suggested undertaking a plan to set up a separate railway university in the country in the form of the railway university in India.
It also suggested simplifying immigration system for Moitree Train plying between Bangladesh and India.
Besides, the meeting had discussions on setting up CNG stations on unused lands, using the recovered land at Matijharna in Chittagong and ICD construction project at Sridham in Gazipur.
Senior officials concerned were present at the meeting.
