The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Water Resources Ministry on Wednesday recommended taking steps, in consultation with the finance ministry, for direct recruitment instead of outsourcing for ‘need based setup’ and all post of class three and four employees under the Water Development Board (WDB).
The parliamentary body made the recommendation at its 18th meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with committee Chairman Ramesh Chandra Sen in the chair.
Committee members State Minister for Water Resources Mohammad Nazrul Islam, AKM Fazlul Haq, M Faridul Haq Khan, Mohammad Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, Rezwan Ahammad Toufiq, Anupam Shahjahan Joy and Selina Jahan Lita attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed a report on the ongoing activities of Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS).
It suggested maintaining contact with the finance ministry to release Taka 10 crore out of the total 35 crore allocated for the newly constructed building of Institute of Water Modeling.
