The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Environment and Forests Ministry recommended taking necessary steps for implementing laws related to conservation of forests and passing the Clean Air Act, 2019 in Jatiya Sangsad.
The committee made the recommendation at its 5th meeting held on Wednesday at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban, said an official release here.The meeting discussed about the implementation of ‘Clean Air and Sustainable Environment’ (CASE) project and suggested taking necessary steps in passing the Clean Air Act, 2019 in the parliament within October this year.
Also, overall activities and project implementation of ‘Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation’ (BFIDC) and problems regarding the Amin Bazar dumping station were discussed in the meeting. The committee placed a recommendation for implementing the forest conservation act as soon as possible to save the environment. Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation has earned a total of Taka 53.04 crore by selling 4865.50 tonnes of rubber in country and abroad, added the release.
The committee also asked the ministry to present a complete list of work duration of officials since their joining date.
With committee’s Chairman Saber Hossain Chowdhury in the chair the meeting was attended by Committee members Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin, Deputy Minister Habibun Nahar, Md Mozammel Hossain, Dipankar Talukder, Nazim Uddin Ahmed, Jafar Alam and Md Rezaul Karim Bablu and Khodeja Nasrin Akter and other officials concerned.
