The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Estimate has made recommendation to form a comprehensive development policy to foster country’s development.
It also advocated strengthening monitoring of all the development works including construction of bridges and road in rural areas as well as coordination between different wings of the LGED. The suggestions came at the second meeting of the parliamentary body held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Wednesday with committee chairman Abdul Matin Khasru in the chair. Committee members Alhaj M Dabirul Islam, A K M Jahangir Hossain, Sheikh Fazle Nur Tapash, Sukumar Rangan Ghosh and Shahanara Begum were present. In the meeting, the committee discussed budgetary allocation and expenditure, progress of implementation and achievement of successes of different development projects taken by the local government, rural development and cooperative divisions.
A sub-committee headed by A K M Jahangir Hossain has been formed to examine the ongoing projects of all city corporations. Other members of the sub-committee are A B M Tajul Islam, Sheikh Fazle Nur Tapash and Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh.
Secretary of the ministry concerned and other officials were also present at the meeting.
