The parliamentary standing committee on disaster management and relief Ministry recommended increased funds along with necessary rehabilitation measures for the people affected by erosion and floods.
The recommendation came on Wednesday at the 8th meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its Chairman Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu in the chair.
Committee members minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Bir Bikram, BM Mozammel Haque, M Shariful Islam Shimul, SM Jaglul Haider and Syed Abu Hossain attended the meeting, said a JS press release.
The committee members also expressed their satisfaction over the measures taken by the ministry to overcome the losses caused by the recent heavy rain and flash floods in the country.
They also suggested more disaster management funds as well as general relief for the erosion and flood affected people side by side with strengthening the ministry’s project activities to improve quality of the reconstruction materials of the disaster affected buildings.
