The second meeting of the parliamentary standing committee of the 10th parliament on local government, rural development and cooperative ministry was held on Wednesday at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhavan to discuss the national budget and other issues of national importance.
Chairman of the committee Abul Hasnat Abdullah was in the chair, while other members including minister for local government, rural development and cooperatives, Syed Ashraful Islam, Alhaj Advocate Md. Rahmat Ali, A K M Mostafizur Rahman, Fazle Hossain Badshah, Mosammat Mahbub Ara Begum Gini and Rahim Akhter participated in the meeting.
Among other things, the meeting discussed the issues of planned urbanization, strengthening of local government, job creation, good governance, social safety net and women’s empowerment.
Special emphasize was given to the subject of supplying potable water by Dhaka WASA during the Holy month of Ramzan. Senior officials of the ministry and concerned departments were also present during the meeting.
