Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce in its meeting on Tuesday discussed the activities of Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), market monitoring and Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF)-2018.
Committee chairman Md Tajul Islam Chowdhury presided over the meeting, said a press release.
Committee members commerce minister Tofail Ahmed, Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Enamul Haque, Waresat Hossain Belal, AKM Bahauddin, Md Sanwar Hossain Mohammad Hasan Imam Khan and Laila Arjuman Banu attended it.
The meeting was informed that there are 14 monitoring teams under the commerce ministry to monitor the different markets in the Dhaka Metropolitan area and two teams visit 3 or 4 markets every day. There is also mobile court and monitoring teams to monitor markets in districts and upazilas.
These monitoring teams monitored a total of 47 markets in August, 2017 and realized fine amounting to Tk 1,54,000. TCB has also playing important role to keep prices of essential commodities stable through selling such commodities at reasonable prices. The number of dealers of TCB is now 2816.
