JS body concerns over slow pace of building HSIA’s 3rd terminal

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Civil Aviation and Tourism expressed its concern over slow progress of constructing 3rd terminal and setting up hangers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).
The committee recommended completing the remaining work of these two projects in an expedited way after resolving all legal issues and technical matters.
The recommendation was made on Thursday at the 33rd meeting of the committee held at Jatiya Sangshad Bhaban with its chairman M Faruk Khan in the chair, said a press release.
Committee members Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Professor M Ali Ashraf, Quamrul Ashraf Khan, Tanvir Imam, Rawshan Ara Mannan and Sabiha Nahar Begum attended the meeting.
The meeting had an elaborate discussion about progress of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman International Airport project and reviewed progress of the earlier decisions taken at the 32nd meeting of the committee.
The committee suggested giving a presentation regarding site selection of the proposed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman International Airport in front of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after selecting two out of three primary spots for the mega airport.
It also suggested reviewing some news reports on irregularities of numbers of officials of Civil Aviation Authority and Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd.
Civil aviation and tourism secretary, chairman of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, chairman of civil aviation authority and high officials of parliament secretariat were also present.
