The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Land recommended for serving instruction upon the local administration to impose restriction on the construction of houses, brick-kilns and industries on the agricultural land.
The recommendation was placed at the 23rd meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here, calling for protecting the agriculture land from further wastage due to construction of various infrastructures.
Committee Chairman M Rezaul Karim Hira presided over the meeting. .
The government rehabilitated 38,308 families on 23,174.51 acres of land from January 2014 to June 2015 while 20,237 families were rehabilitated on 12,806.14 acres of land till May 2016, a JS press release said.
Committee members State Minister for land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, AKM Maidul Islam, Jahan Ara Begum Surma and Gazi MM Amzad Hossain Milon, among others were present at the meeting, where they also suggested quick disposal of the cases pending under the ministry.
Concerned officials were also present.
