The 17th session of the 10th parliament will begin on September 10, which is likely to witness a lively debate over the Supreme Court observation on the 16th amendment verdict.
President Abdul Hamid called the session of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) on Tuesday exercising the power bestowed upon him as per Article 72 (1) of the Constitution, said a Parliament Secretariat handout. The session will begin at 5pm.
On Monday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, while talking about the much-talked-about 16th amendment to the Constitution, said she has doubt whether other judges of the Appellate Division had the scope of freely giving their opinions.
She also said, the Chief Justice might have not given them that scope and many things can be understood after reading the verdict.
Mentioning that there were many ‘contradictions’ in the judgment, Hasina said adding she was reading it and taking notes.
