The Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday unanimously adopted an obituary reference on 20 distinguished personalities, including former state minister, MPs, language veterans, cultural personalities, senior journalists, officials and employees of parliament secretariat.
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury moved the obituary references mentioning the names separately with brief resumes on those who died since prorogation of the 14th session of the current 10th parliament.
The Speaker while moving the references said the House expresses its deep shock at the deaths of former cabinet member and lawmaker Mohammad Nurul Huda, six former MPs – Colonel (retd) AA Maruf Saklain, Dherendra Nath Saha, Alhajj KM Abdul Khaleque Chantu, Kazi Mohammad Anwer Hossain, Ahsan Ali Khan and Ahsan Ahmed.
The House also condoled the deaths of Mahfuzul Bari, an accused of the Agartala Conspiracy Case along with Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
