UNB, Rangpur :
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Wednesday said his party members will surely quit the cabinet as they do not want to take the responsibility of this government’s failures.
“We’ll take a decision to this end today or tomorrow. We’ll definitely take the decision. My wife and the opposition leader also said we’ll ultimately step aside from the cabinet,” he said.
Talking to reporters at his Rangpur residence, Ershad further said, “We’re yet to finalise the date. We’ll finalise the decision after discussing it with the party presidium members.”
Earlier in the day, Ershad, also a special envoy
to the Prime Minister, arrived in Rangpur on a three-day visit.
The former military ruler voiced his anger and frustration over the question paper leak of the primary terminal exams. “The question preparers of the primary exams have got leaked. Where’re we taking the country to? It’s now become a burning question to people.”
Criticising the government for what he said its failure to rein in its associate bodies, the Jatiya Party chief said Chhatra League and Jubo League are indulging in infightings and killings. “But the government is not taking any effective step to check those.”
He said people are suffering from serious sense of insecurity due to severe deterioration in the law and order situation. “People now want a change as they are not in peace. They don’t want to see Awami League and BNP in power any more as they’ve understood that only Jatiya Party can ensure peace and security.”
